Photos from 2022
I didn’t post anything in 2022, but here are a few photos I took that year.
Snowy owl west of Winnipeg.
Red-headed Woodpecker landing in a tree in my neighbour’s yard. It has always felt like a very magical, rare bird to me (and, of course, very beautiful). It turns out, however, that it’s quite common in our area and was nesting in a nearby park.
Just a Cape May Warbler (famously not even breeding in Cape May, NJ).
Little Blue Heron — a rare bird on a nearby lake. Although it is called blue, it is white when young.
A nice comparison photo of two sandpipers: a Greater Yellowlegs and a Pectoral Sandpiper. I remember it was a nice morning, a bit cold (early October), but the sun came out and the Meadowlark was still singing…
Red-bellied Woodpecker is not a typical Manitoba bird, but several pairs breed in the city. This photo shows a reliable resident of Kildonan Park.
